Menstrual Magik

Monday 8 June 2020

Did you know that menstrual blood is, in fact, considered pure and sacred?

There is an ancient Hopi prophecy that states, - When the women give their blood back to the earth, men will come home from war and earth shall find peace.

In Celtic Britain, to be stained with the red (presumably menstrual blood) meant you were chosen by the goddess.

When a woman is on her bleed she is at her most physic and spiritually open. That’s why women are let go of their duties and retreat to the Red Tent to be around other women, be nurtured and rest. This is why women are not to go to the temple during this time. They are so physically open to the spirits that reside there.

Even if your bleed has finished and you’ve entered menopause, women were still highly regarded - Celtic rites were often granted by elder women in the community due to the belief that being post-menopausal made you the wisest as you had permanently retained your wisdom blood.

Why is it we have forgotten these ways? The magic that lays within our womb and the magic of our blood?

When was the last time you connected with her, touched her, really felt into your body and womb during your moon time?

Free bleed, sit on mother earth and let your womb flow. Give your blood to your garden. - Blood contains high nitrogen and protein composition, which is just what our plants need to grow strong. Paint your moon blood onto your third eye and reclaim this part of you that has been shamed by society and connect deeper with yourself and with spirit.

The more in touch with your body and blood flow, the more you can be empowered by your moon time instead of dreading “that time of the month” and re-program shame into pride to be a woman who bleeds. For it really is a miracle.
